Mistaya Canyon is one of the Rockies' most breathtaking limestone gorges. It is a hidden gem along the Icefields Parkway between Peyto Lake and Jasper. After a short downhill walk, you'll reach a bridge spanning the narrow canyon, offering stunning views of the Mistaya River rushing through the gorge below and Mt. Sarbach looming in the distance.
I created this drawing during my first year of wrist rehabilitation after a near career-ending injury. I slowly worked on it over the course of a year, determined to regain my ability to draw and capture this stunning landmark that sparked a profound shift in me to reclaim my power and rewrite my story, one pencil stroke at a time.
Mistaya Canyon is an awe-inspiring example of the immense power we hold within ourselves to shape our lives, much like the turquoise waters that carve through the canyon. When you look at my drawing of Mistaya Canyon, I hope it reminds you that life comes from you, not at you, and inspires you to embrace your agency and create a beautiful, abundant life.
