Johnston Canyon

The magic of the journey. 

Johnston Canyon is an enchanting and breathtaking adventure located between Banff and Castle Mountain on the Bow Valley Parkway. The spectacular 2.75 km moderate hike gently ascends along the canyon's edge on wide paths and narrow suspended catwalks leading to the Lower and Upper Falls. The beauty of this trail is that it allows you to gaze straight into the crystal-clear emerald-green waters, feel the refreshing spray of seven stunning waterfalls on your face, and observe the intricate moss-covered rock walls up close, creating an immersive and unforgettable experience.

Drawing Johnston Canyon was a must for me. This place is magical and captures the true essence of a journey. At this particular time in my life, I felt exhausted and burnt out because I was too focused on reaching my end goal in one giant leap. Johnston Canyon reminded me that it’s the continuous effort, one small step at a time, to improve every day that creates the masterpiece and that the moments we experience along the way make life magical.
